The initiative for establishing this church came from the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a missionary movement founded in the United States by Albert Benjamin Simpson (1843-1919).The first missionaries of the Alliance came to Burkina Faso in 1923. They established themselves in Bobo-Dioulasso, in the western part of the country. In 1962 the church became autonomous and was officially recognized by the state. The church runs several schools. The church is organized into 10 districts: Banfora, Bobo-Dioulasso, Dedougou, Djibasso, Pouna, Ouagadougou, Ouroué, Santodougou, Solenzo, and Tougan; each district is governed by a district committee, and the entire church by a national committee.
